Bungle Bungles-Purnululu National Park

Had an amazing weekend visiting the Bungle Bungles. Greatful for work mate Michelle who came with me. I didn’t realise how far it was from FX so stayed the nights in Halls Creek. (Don’t want to drive at night up here-cows and wallabies on the road). Halls Creek gets a bit of a bad wrap but we stayed at the Kimberley Motel and accommodation and food were good for outback as was security.

An FYI we were told that Purnululu is pronounced with a B.

Our helicopter pilot was lovely as were our tour guides James and Corey. I really appreciate what we learnt by doing a tour and the people we met.

About to take off-not scared much..

First time in a helicopter

Aerial views were amazing

Rainbow Serpent sacred site

The formations are made out of sandstone and tectonic plate movement. The red iron oxides has blown from the Tanami desert and the black is live blue green algae.

Cathedral George

Rock art-only about 50 years old

Elephant Rocks

Avoiding animals on the road comming back to Halls Creek last night

Wow! The Bungle Bungles are amazing. The photos only show a part of what you saw. You have had so many wonderful adventures while up in the North West. So many memories and an education and an understading of the indigenous people and their country. What a privilege.

The contrast of the blue sky with the rock formations and water is spectacular! What a beautiful part of the country thank you for sharing. Very brave up in a helicopter!
