Coober Pedy to Alice Springs

Today felt like a big milestone. We left the beautiful sparse landscape of South Australia and entered North Territory. The scenery changed dramatically with more trees and greenery on the red landscape. We also hit rain and cool weather. Something I haven’t experienced in the NT before (even though I was warned 😅) it was so snuggly in the car which made the 7 hour 🚗 manageable.

Main street of Coober Pedy. Not what I imagined

Leaving Coober Pedy-the opal city. So excited to see the Alice Springs sign I made Rob lean out the (passenger) window and take a pic

The landcape is filled with mining humps which Rob says are called Mullock heaps

Interesting things you see at petrol ⛽ stations in the outback

So many crows…or ravens on the road. Rob calls them the clean up road crew. I don’t want to drive at night as there are so many animals killed on the road

As you enter Alice Springs you go through the gap in the East and West MacDonnell Ranges

Anzac Hill and View of Alice Springs from Anzac Hill. If you come for the first time check out Simpson’s gap and Standley Chasm. Beautiful and you don’t need a 4wd. Alice Springs desert Park is also pretty cool. We are on a mission so don’t have time this trip.
