Exploring Fitzroy crossing

Beautiful weather today. 29 degrees which felt hot in the sun but lovely in the shade. Very similar to Melbourne weather with no humidity.

We went exploring the area. Unfortunately the bungle bungles were closed due to the previous rain and Geiki George which is only 20 minutes away is also closed.

We still looked around the bush, climbed some rocks, found an oval and chatted to a lovely local guy and his dog as well as checking out the mighty Fitzroy River.

Fitzroy River and the new bridge after the 2023 flood cut the town off

Beautiful coloured rocks down by the river

Exploring out near Geikie Gorge

The street near where I’ll be living and working. I was excited to see an oval with grass. I had no idea if there would even be any greenery in town. I really noticed the lack of greenery in Coober Pedy

Warning sign on the pool where we are staying. I am now on the lookout for crocodiles 🐊 and snakes 🐍

It does look lovely and green. It’s a pity you can’t go to the Bungle Bungles. How far away are they? Enjoy looking around.

    1. Hi Pat
The Bungle Bungles are a couple of hours away. Maybe I’ll do a flight over them one day.
It a funny place, lots of red dirt and dry, and then patches of green grass and trees 🙂

FC looks so green and lush. I can almost smell the fragrance of frangipani. You should wear one in your hair every day. They symbolise resilience and renewal (according to google 😉) I’m sure you will be amazing and everyone will love your energy, passion and knowledge for what you do best, nourish the little ones 🙂 Goodluck for Tuesday

there are other spiritual reasons too. On second thoughts, maybe you shouldn’t wear one as they might think you are a cleaner too. Maybe wear a beautiful Hibiscus
